Milana Aleksandrovna Vayntrub of the American is an actor, comedian, and activist. After moving to America her birthplace was in the Soviet Union to Jewish parents. She began her career as an actor for children. In AT&T commercials she played the character as Lily Adams (saleswoman) from 2013 to 2016 and then in until 2020. In addition to commercial appearances, she also appeared as a regular in the series of the Yahoo! Screen science-fiction comedy Other Space (2015). Additionally, she was an actor on the NBC drama This Is Us (2016–2017). Vayntrub is also the voice of Squirrel Girl on the Marvel Rising franchise since 2018 after she was selected to play Squirrel Girl in the unaired television pilot of New Warriors. Vayntrub was born in Tashkent, Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR, and is Jewish. At the age of two, she and her parents relocated to the U.S. as refugees to get away from antisemitism. They settled in West Hollywood. At five years of age she started appearing in Mattel Barbie commercials. This was partly due to economic hardships in her family. Vayntrub briefly attended Beverly Hills High School. Following her sophomore year, she quit and obtained an GED. She continued, however, to obtain an undergraduate degree in Arts Communication from University of California San Diego. She learned how to perform improv from the Upright Citizens Brigade.
